Networkcar Receives 2006 Frost & Sullivan Technology Innovation Award for Wireless Emissions Monitoring
SAN DIEGO, CA, January 24, 2007 Networkcar®, a leader in wireless vehicle management, announced today that it has received a 2006 North American Frost & Sullivan Award for Technology Innovation in the field of automotive emissions monitoring. Networkcar received this award in recognition of its outstanding remote smog check technology that continuously monitors vehicle emissions and sends reports wirelessly to vehicle owners. This technology is a service of its Networkfleet wireless vehicle management system that combines GPS location tracking with diagnostic monitoring toreduce operating costs for commercial fleets.
Frost & Sullivan's Technology Innovation Award is bestowed upon a company that has carried out new research that has resulted in innovation(s) that have or are expected to bring significant contributions to the industry. This award recognizes the vision, quality and depth of Networkcar's research and development program.
"We are honored to receive this award for our research efforts. Our customers in California can bypass physical smog checks since Networkfleet continuously monitors emissions," said Paul Washicko, president of Networkcar. "This saves fleets downtime and the cost of a traditional smog inspection. It also has a positive impact on air quality. Our plan is to offer this service in other states soon."
Networkcar provides round the clock services for remotely monitoring the performance, location, and security of fleet and consumer vehicles. Its Networkfleet wireless vehicle management system collects and transmits data wirelessly from a vehicle's engine computer and from a global positioning system (GPS). The location and diagnostic details of the vehicle, including emissions, is made available to fleet managers through the Internet in the form of immediate e-mail alerts, summary e-mail reports and a Web-based software application.
"Networkcar's innovative technology has the potential to replace the existing physical inspection of the vehicle with advantages such as the cost savings associated with smog tests and downtime for the physical inspection of the vehicle," said Rebecca Bright, research analyst at Frost & Sullivan. "Networkcar's technology continuously monitors emissions rather than checking periodically, which is something that is a current challenge for the automotive sector. Frost & Sullivan is pleased to acknowledge Networkcar's work with its prestigious 2006 Technology Innovation Award."
